Last time, Tracy reluctantly proposed another property insurance solution that would save Pete money on his yearly rate, but it would come at a price for Pete in the event of a serious claim.

In a nutshell, Tracy informed Pete that he could insure his building for less than the amount required by the insurance company, but this would mean the inclusion of a coinsurance penalty in the event of the claim.

Basically, Pete would be responsible for paying over 50% of any covered losses out of his own pocket.

Pete only has ears for the lower yearly payment, though, and instructs Tracy to go ahead with that plan.

Tracy does as Pete requests and sets up his Louisiana Restaurant Insurance Policy with only a $500,000 property limit versus the minimum of $800,000 the insurer requires to avoid a co-insurance penalty.

Tracy has major reservations about the decision and tries to talk Pete out of it, but ultimately the choice is entirely up to Pete.

All she can do now is cross her fingers and hope nothing else happens to Squeaky Pete’s Pork Emporium.

Six months go by without any type of incident and Pete’s restaurant is doing well. He quickly forgot about the coinsurance penalty Tracy warned him about, but he didn’t forget about his hefty insurance bill and would call Tracy every month bugging her to find him a better deal on his Louisiana Restaurant Insurance Policy.

Tracy would politely tell Pete this is the only company willing to insure him, then wish him well as they would both laugh about his unfortunate experience with insurance claims.

One day, in a bar several miles down the road from Squeaky Pete’s Pork Emporium, a guy by the name of Chuck is having a very bad day.

Chuck is the owner of Lucky Chuck’s Haul and Dump, a local dump truck service. You may recall Chuck from a previous series, which you can revisit by clicking on Dump Truck Insurance New Orleans.

Chuck is deep into his mug of draft beer, attempting to drown his sorrows. He lost a major client with whom he has had a business relationship for many years. On top of that, his girlfriend isn’t talking to him and his dog ran away.

After at least ten drafts, Chuck decides that it would be a good idea to take a cruise to clear his mind.

He slips out of the bar before the bartender can stop him and staggers over to his heavy-duty dump truck.
