Which Louisiana Home Insurance Policy Is Best for You?

In a series of articles over the last few months we have discussed the Basic, Broad, and Special Home Insurance Coverage Form.

Insurance is certainly complicated. Picking the right coverage form for your personal needs is very important because it can mean the difference between a claim being covered or not covered.

In last week’s article about home insurance Steve and Allison were relieved to learn that their home policy, the Special Home Insurance Coverage Form, completely covered the damage caused by their seven-year-old daughters splashing grape juice on their expensive wall-to-wall Wool New Zealand Carpeting.

The Louisiana Special Home Insurance Coverage Form covered this claim in full because this particular policy covers all claim events to the structure (Coverage A & B) except for what is excluded.

In contrast if Steve and Allison were insured under the basic or broad policy, the claim would not have been covered.

What’s interesting about this claim is that it could have turned out completely differently if the parents were responsible for splashing grape juice in their efforts to get new carpeting from their insurance company.

Why?

Intentional acts are never covered by insurance policies no matter what coverage form is purchased, with the exception of claim events caused by children who in some cases lack good judgment or supervision.

Hannah and Olivia, twin seven year old siblings, certainly fit into this category after splashing grape juice all over their parent’s carpeting for its artistic appeal.
