In last week’s entry, the two robbers ran off with both the gas station’s cash and Pete’s deposit.

Once the coast was clear, Pete and the gas station cashier made sure each other was unharmed and struck up nervous conversation until the police arrived.

The question of whether their monetary losses would be covered by an insurance policy came up, so Pete decided to call his insurance agency to find out.

Louisiana Gas Station Insurance – Insurance Scenario Part 4

Early the following morning, Pete calls up his insurance agent. After a moment, he hears a familiar voice over the phone.

“Hello, Pete,” answers Tracy, the insurance agent who assisted Pete through thick and thin over the course of the tumultuous first year of operating his restaurant. “What can I do for you? Did something happen at the restaurant again?” she adds with a hint of trepidation.

“Hi Tracy,” Pete responds. “No, everything’s fine at the restaurant, but believe it or not, I was mugged last night at a gas station during a robbery.”

“Oh my goodness!” Tracy exclaims.

Pete explains the details of what happened, right up to the point at which he spoke with the gas station cashier about the topic of insurance.

“So my first question is: will the gas station’s insurance policy cover the theft of my deposit money? And if not, then my second question is: will my restaurant’s insurance policy cover the theft of my deposit money?” Pete asks. “And for the record,” he adds, “I really hope the answer to one of those questions is ‘yes.'”

“Understood.” says Tracy. “I will get in contact with the gas station’s insurance company and get an answer for you.”
